Krung Kavee is a well-maintained course located close to the Don Muang airport in a large private housing estate. The course was designed by Manabu Sakamoto who has also created over 40 championship golf courses all over the world. However, unlike many of the other Japanese course architects, Mr. Sakamoto goes for long golf courses.
Krung Kavee also practices 'green' maintenance, which not only gives nice playing surfaces but also eliminated the use of environmentally unfriendly pesticides and herbicides. The Bangkok golf course makes use of an excellent sub-surface drainage system, which ensures against standing water, even in the Bangkok rainy season.
Krung Kavee has some interesting holes including an island green Par 3, which is large enough to allow a chance for all levels of players to knock it on. The course is typical of most courses built on former rice fields and features a combination of natural and human-made ponds and lakes as hazards. There are four sets of tees and some testing holes. Holes 6, 7 and 8 are very demanding par fours and play very long even from the forward ladies tees. The greens are relatively flat, and all run fast and accurate. There are many lateral water hazards and several holes requiring long water carries.
The small upmarket clubhouse overlooks the course has great panoramic views. Locker rooms and shower facilities are of a 5-star hotel standard. The Rangsit Kitchen onsite restaurant offers some of the best Thai food in Bangkok including curries, soups, fresh vegetables, and seafood dishes all prepared with fresh ingredients.
Kung Kavee offers Bangkok golfers an excellent overall golfing experience with first class service. The courses itself could have a little more elevation, but that's what available in rice paddy fields.
